tina fey and amy poehler's lee daniel's the butler golden globe awards

Have you ever done a media fast before?
Like given up all forms of media for a couple of hours or days just to remember what it was like back in the day when everyone survived without media?
Well it's actually kind of hard. Like really hard.
It was January 14th and the Golden Globes has aired in the United States 8PM their time, 5AM Sweden time.
Now as much as I love the Golden Globes plus my idols Tina and Amy, there was no way I was going to stay up until 5AM nor wake up at 4:30PM to watch it. (I apologize deeply).
So me and my friends, Cassie, Ali, Kacey, Sofie all took a Media fast and avoided any media that could possibly ruin our chances of telling us who the winner is.
From 10AM (the time I woke up) to 5PM (to the time we watched it) I did all I could to avoid anything that could tell me who won the Golden Globes.
But I will admit that I did cheat a little.
In the morning, when I wake up I check three things
1. Email
2. Facebook
3. Twitter/Yahoo
Ok thats like 4 things but the third one switches every once in a while.
Luckily, there I did not get an email telling me who won, and I slowly and carefully scrolled through Facebook, until some butthead decided to tell me who won Best Picture.
Damn butthead.
The worst part about media is that people like to announce big news that happened, like who won the sports game, which celebrity died, the weather, TV show spoilers and award shows.
Those kinds of people are buttheads and like to ruin things for other people.
DON'T THEY KNOW THAT PEOPLE WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY OR LIVING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY AND HAVE TO WAIT FOR PROGRAMS AND GAMES.
I swear some buttheads are not considerate.
After that scare/heartattack I quickly shut off my computer, got ready for class and avoided all media-related news.
So when I got to class and had my computer with me, it meant to actually pay attention (not that I don't pay attention....I totally do) but I had to REALLY pay attention to get my mind off media.
My class was from 1-4PM and it was the longest 3 hours ever. The moment the clock hit four, we all grabbed our coats, and split. Sofie, Kacey, Cassie and Ali headed over to ICA to get nommie-noms to snack on and I bolted back home to get brownies that I had made that were cooling in my fridge, plus chocolates from Spain and wine. (I go big for award shows).
Then at 5:30 ish, I arrived at my friend Sofie's apartment where she had the Golden Globes red carpet playing. We got all the food together of crackers and cheese, guacamole, spring rolls, water and coffee and ate until our stomachs were full.
And then the awards ceremony came on...
Now if you have yet to watch the Golden Globes ceremony, I want, need, no EXPECT you to watch it right now, because it's pretty amazing.
Look, I'll even give you the link right now, to save you some time

2 hours later....
Did you watch it? Did you love it? Did Tina Fey and Amy Poehler become your idols in the first 5 minutes of the show?
Of course they did.
Did you scream of excitement when Amy Poehler won the Golden Globe for playing Leslie Knope in Parks & Recreation? Did you laugh when she made out with Bono? Did you cry when she said that she never wins anything because, you yourself (mostly me) are just like her and have never won anything?
No, ok then it's just me then.
The night was perfect and totally worth the media fast.
I now know how to avoid Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Yahoo for when the Oscars come.
But I swear to God, if anybody, LIKE ANYBODY, texts me or emails me or DOES ANYTHING THAT RUINS THE OSCAR WINNERS FOR ME I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AND HIT YOU WITH MY SPATULA.
I'm not kidding guys, the Oscars are like a big deal, like the bees knees, like the most important night in media, like every media/theater/drama/writer/actor/fashionista goes crazy over the Oscars.
The Oscars were the only night, minus New Years, where I could stay up past my bedtime on a school night (and at 8 years old, that was like a big deal).
Please, please, please don't ruin it for me, thanks.
This is us celebrating our media fast. We're quite proud and quite the good looking bunch.
