i'm a wizard

March 31st, 2014
(The last post I swear)
Before coming to London, there was already one place set in mind that we all wanted to do.
Go to the Harry Potter studio tour.
Coming from a Catholic school, were our uniforms were similar to the Harry Potter costumes, I had to pay tribute to those high school days and go there.
Also, I needed to go for the 8 year old in me.
But before Harry Potter happened, some of us split up and did our own thing, since our tour was at 2:30PM.
Amanda and I went to the Victoria & Albert Museum were they showcased fashion in Britain from the 1800s to now and household artifacts from the 1700.

This "Jacobean" era poster reminded me of new new cousin that was born this last January, Jacob or also known as "Jacobo" in our family.

This little chubby baby statue also reminded me of my other little cousin, who had mentioned before in a previous post- Lil Sebastian.
This pose reminded me of a future pose my cousin Lil Sebastian might do in the future when all of our cousins eat all the cookies and leave none for him.

With the museum showcasing fashion there was an exhibit where one could try in a petticoat and have a feel of what it was like to wear one. This explaining the pictures below:

It's the newest fashion craze.

Once we hurried through the museum, we met up with everyone and headed off to the Harry Potter studio tour to begin our orientation at Hogwarts.
The tour mainly focused on props, costumes and sets that were used during the Harry Potter movies. The most interesting part about the studio your wa that every single prop, costume and set piece were used in the movie and were handcrafted and built by hundreds of set workers.
For example, in the first movie when Harry goes into Ollivanders to get his first wand, every single box in that store was handmade and carved by hundreds if set workers.
Like not one piece of prop was fake or just made half ass, that one prop that was seen for 3 seconds in the movie and only used once, was made by hand for that 3 second fame.
It's insane. I will never look at Harry Potter the same again.

Butterbeer
The notable drink in Harry Potter, now sold outside the main exhibit for 3 pounds. This butter beer is non-alcoholic and has the taste of a caramel root beer float. It was delicious.

#4 Privet Drive, the street where Harry Potter and his cousins, the Dudley's lived.
The Bridge where Harry, Hermonie and Ron hung out in the majority of the movies, but most notably seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter Chess Piece

Book of Monsters- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

(I totally forgot what this was called, but it was in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)

Diagon Alley

Ollivander's Wand Shop
(As mentioned before, every single detailed was designed for props like these wands. Each box of wands was handcrafted and painted for the purpose of Ollivander's Wand Shop for only a few seconds.

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Once the Harry Potter tour was done, we ended up at the gift shop to purchase some souvenirs, then headed home and had our last dinner in London before heading off the next morning.

London came and went, but a week was not enough to do everything. Like San Francisco, you can do so much in one day, but you could never get the full city.
